Mike became Managing Principal of Maine Street Solutions and Counsel to Verrill Dana, LLP following his service as Speaker of the Maine House (2000-2002). Mike helps numerous businesses and associations in Maine and the region navigate difficult legislative matters, and he assists clients with both community and public relations services. Mike concentrates his practice on state government relations, procurement, grassroots and grasstops communications, and press relations. Among many successful initiatives, Mike worked with the Pew Charitable Trust to secure the passage of a law creating the position of Dental Therapist to help rural access to dental care; worked with UNE and Jackson Labs to secure the legislative passage of a $50 million bond initiative for research and development; and helped UNE secure $6 million from a bond initiative to build Maine’s only dental school. Mike serves on the Board of Directors of several not-for-profit agencies including the Maine Equal Justice Partners, Goldfarb Center at Colby College, and Saxl Park.
Previously, he served on the ABA President’s Commission on Loan Repayment Assistance. Mike grew up in Bangor and currently resides in Belgrade.
