Mike Saxl

Managing Principal

Mike Saxl became Managing Principal of Maine Street Solutions and Counsel to Verrill Dana, LLP following his service as Speaker of the House in the 120th Maine Legislature (2000-2002). Mike has spent his career working in and around public policy and politics. He has worked in diverse positions ranging from the Maine Legislature to the Democratic Campaign Committee, from Burson-Marsteller to professional associations. This diverse experience has helped shape the multi-lateral, integrated approach Mike brings to Maine Street Solutions clients. While representing his Portland district, Mike pursued a variety of initiatives, from seeking increased access to affordable healthcare, to championing tax credits aimed at creating new educational opportunities. Prior to serving as Speaker, he served as Majority Leader (1998-2000) and Majority Whip (1996-1998). As a legislator, Mike honed his expertise on many diverse issues ranging from healthcare and higher education to tax reform and domestic violence. In 2009, he was asked to serve as a Margaret Chase Smith Distinguished Maine Policy Fellow at the University of Maine. He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America 2009 in the area of Government Relations Law.

Mike is a graduate of Bowdoin College, and received his law degree cum laude from the University of Maine School of Law.
