Crystal Canney

Director of Communications

Crystal Canney is an affiliate of MSS and works with our clients on press relations, crisis communications and optimization of new media.

Prior to her work at MSS, Canney served as the Communications Director for the campaign to defeat the taxpayer bill of rights (TABOR). The campaign resulted in the most lopsided defeat of TABOR in the country. In 2005 Canney served as the Communications Director for Governor John Baldacci and was instrumental in his 2006 re-election.

Before her work in the public sector, Canney worked as a national award winning journalist. She was a reporter for 20 years in Maine and Massachusetts. Among her many awards, she received first place in the country from the Annie E. Casey Foundation for her series of reports on impoverished children. She has won numerous Associated Press and Maine Association of Broadcasters Awards.
